How to Increase Your Chances of Customers Liking Your Product

June 1, 2021/in Uncategorized/by Derrick Rehn

With consumerism becoming commonplace in modern society, product design has been an invaluable tool for businesses desiring growth. While the customer’s primary objective is to meet basic needs, what they like and how they want that need met is a different story. And with the market flooded with similar products, the only factor differentiating brands is their designs.

Product design combines the user’s needs and desires to capitalize on rampant consumerism. Also referred to as the conceptual design process, it helps companies design products that communicate function and meaning to keep customers buying. We look at ways product design increases the chances of a customer liking a company’s product.

What is Conceptual Design?

It is one of the stages in product development that lays out the concept of a product. It addresses different aspects of the products, including usability, user experience, technology, and aesthetics, to mention a few. It plays a critical role in enticing customers to buy products by:

1. Communicating Function

A good product should provide a solution to the customer’s problem, and its design should communicate this factor effectively. When you solve a user’s problem, you entice them to purchase your product the next time they want that need met. However, you should avoid including too many features in the design as it causes functionality to get buried under the pile of features.

2. Being Aesthetically Relevant

Function and practicality are essential, but aesthetics also play a critical role in attracting customers to buy products. Studies show 64% of people decide to purchase products right off the shelf without researching if they like the packaging. Why is it so? Even if products are functional and easy to use, they should also beam with aesthetic power. The modern consumer wants products that work wonders but won’t compromise on looks for function.

3. Selling User-Friendly Products

The end consumer should quickly and intuitively understand how the product works. As such, the product shouldn’t be complicated to use. If so, users may get frustrated and uninterested in buying more products from you. Perceiving the product from the user’s perspective is the first step to designing a simple product. Think about the advantages the product provides to the user. Does it improve their lives? Does it help them to do something more efficiently? Providing products that answer such questions increases a company’s chances of customers liking its products.

4. Providing Long-Lasting Products

Good product design is timeless, and if you can design a product well, it’s likely to attract loyal customers. That’s why vintage products still look like cutting-edge solutions even today. What’s more, long-lasting products provide the ultimate solution to the pollution crisis in the world today.

These conceptual design tips should help businesses create and sell products that customers like. Getting your customers to like your products while meeting their needs goes a long way in initiating long-lasting relationships.
